Richard Berner

Dick is the current owner of ORBY, but retired from the day to day operations of the yard. He bought the business in 1983 when some boats were still wooden and boats were hauled via the marine railway on cradles and moved around the yard on wooden rollers instead of trailers. He grew up on boats as a kid and always owned at least two at a time for recreation while working in the corporate world. He raced sailboats for a number of years before making the transition to owning just power boats. Over his years he transformed ORBY to the modern boatyard it is today. He has left the day to day operations of the yard to his son’s Cliff & Kegan.
