  • April 2007 Nor'Easter Beach Damage Photos
    The four days of strong winds from the NE, N, and SE battered the Chatham coastline and created a new break on North Beach opposite Minister's Point.  The experts are looking at the new cut and tying to figure out what the long term effects will be on North Beach, the inlet, and the homes lining Pleasant Bay.

  • Below is a panoramic photo showing the new land bridge connecting Monomoy Island and South Beach cutting off the access to the Atlantic Ocean via The Southway. Images were taken on December 15th 2006 with no sign of water flow at any tide level.

  • Aerial Photo of The Southway taken at the end of November 2007

  • The channel connecting The Southway to the Atlantic Ocean is now "closed". The Nor' East storm over Thanksgiving was responsible for filling it in with sand and making it impassable to boats, with only a small trickle of water flowing over at high tide. The photos below were taken on November 26th 2007
